Old Time Cornhusking and Barn Dance

Just in case you thought that the kids weren’t alright, I’m here to tell you everything is O.K.

Now I’m sure you’re wondering, “What’s wrong with Chris these days?  He just doesn’t seem to do anything ‘old-timey’ anymore.  He’s gone soft.”

So, just in the nick of time, I’ll tell you what fun I had last weekend at Bob and Julie’s Farm over in Cannon Falls, MN.  A friend had just harvested her couple acres of corn, and I’ll be damned if she didn’t have an honest-to-goodness old time cornhusking party.

Now, I know you’re gonna react to this with a few questions:

Was there music? Uh-huh.

Was there a table full of crockpots, bisquits and pies? You betcha.

Was there a bottle of bourbon hidden underneath a huge pile of corn?  Yes.

Did we have a rockin’ square dance in a hundred year-old barn lit only by x-mas lights?  You know that it’s true.

We finished the wonderful evening by having an impromptu honky tonk dance.  It was magical.

In Class, we’re still working on acoustic setup, with nut and saddles, and now bridge copies added to our skill development.  More on that later, but for now, some photos of my Martin OOO-15S getting a nice new nut and saddle.
